Blackbutt formally known as Eucalyptus pilularis is grown in Southern Queensland starting in Maryborough through to New South Wales. Blackbutt is a fast growing plantation timber. It is a reliable hardwood species. We are also having quite a few people who have used Lounging Lizards Parramatta to build their granny flat who are now inquiring about timber for fencing.
Blackbutt is golden yellow to pale brown in appearance. The grain is interlocked and straight with small gum veins sometimes visible. The main uses for Blackbutt are:
- Structural applications and framework
- Above ground framing
- External applications (poles and roof trusses)
- Internal flooring
