Blackbutt formally known as Eucalyptus pilularis is grown in Southern Queensland starting in Maryborough through to New South Wales. Blackbutt is a fast growing plantation timber.It is a reliable hardwood species.
Blackbutt is golden yellow to pale brown in appearance. The grain is interlocked and straight with small gum veins sometimes visible. The main uses for Blackbutt are:
- Structural applications and framework
- Above ground framing
- External applications (poles and roof trusses)
- Decking
- Cladding
- Internal flooring
- Panelling
- Plywood
- Joinery
